When looking for a place to call home, where should you look? Canada has a variety of residency programs that will help you find the perfect place to make a new life. These residency programs can help you find the perfect place to make a new life. There are several options when it comes to choosing a residency program. You can choose a program that has a specific focus, like sports or healthcare. You can choose a program that offers a specific kind of experience, like a rural or urban program. Or you can choose a program that offers Canada’s top investment opportunities. Looking at these different factors will help you choose the right residency program for you.

The Start-Up Visa program is designed to attract highly talented entrepreneurs who can contribute to Canada’s innovation, job creation, and worldwide competitiveness.

As this is a federal program, you must intend to relocate to a province other than Quebec.

BUSINESS QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for this visa, your organization must be assessed to be capable of bringing innovation to Canada while also employing Canadian residents and assisting Canada in its worldwide competitiveness.

Additionally, you must demonstrate that you possess a minimum of a 10% voting interest in the firm. If you migrate your firm to Canada, you may apply concurrently with the other owners.

You must control more than 50% of the voting rights between yourself and the other applicants. It’s worth noting that five individuals may apply as owners.

SUPPORT

You cannot just relocate your start-up to Canada to obtain investment. You must first get the assistance of a government-designated Canadian organization.

Canada maintains a list of authorized venture capital firms, angel investor clubs, and business incubators. You should submit proposals to a few dozen organizations on the list.

You may be asked to visit Canada by one of these organizations to pitch your company proposal. After an organization agrees to sponsor you, you must receive a Letter of Support from them to submit with your application.

Venture capital firms must be prepared to invest at least CAD 200,000 in your company. In addition, Angel investor groups should commit to at least CAD 75,000 in investment.

LANGUAGE

To demonstrate your ability to conduct business successfully in Canada, you must take a language test administered by an approved agency to demonstrate proficiency in English or French.

You must demonstrate competence in one of the two official languages by speaking, reading, writing, and listening. There is no way around the language requirement for the Start-Up visa.

MONETARY REQUIREMENTS

As a holder of a Start-Up visa, the Canadian government will not provide financial help.

Before being accepted into the program, you must show that you have the financial means to support yourself and your family throughout your stay in Canada. This money must be your own and not borrowed from anybody else.

The prerequisites are far from impossible.

You must show that you have access to CAD 12,475 in money if you are a single individual. This figure is CAD 23,181 for a household of four.

Bear in mind that the Canadian government adjusts these rates annually.

APPLICATION PROCESS

To apply, you must first download the application package in PDF format and then complete it on your computer. After completing the application, you will need to verify the “Generic Application Form for Canada” online.

This is relatively simple. You just log on to the website, press the validate button, and print everything. After signing and attaching your documentation, you may submit your application to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Additionally, you must include the application cost.

The application price, including the permanent residency charge, is CAD 1,540. However, if you want to include your spouse or partner in the visa and permanent residence application, an extra CAD 1,040 charge is required. In addition, each dependent kid will be charged an extra CAD 150.

If your application is denied or you decide not to come to Canada, you will get a refund of the percentage of the sum you contributed toward permanent residence.

You may be requested to provide more documentation. If your application is accepted, the Canadian federal government will offer you permanent residence and, if necessary, a travel visa.

QUEBEC ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM

On the other hand, the Quebec Entrepreneur Program is geared at existing company owners rather than start-ups. Additionally, it is very competitive due to severe quotas.

What do we mean when we say “strict”? On the other hand, Quebec established a cap of 50 approved applications for this program a few years ago.

There are limits for approved applications and restrictions on the total number of accepted applications. For example, in the 2017-2018 application cycle, only 5,000 applications were permitted across ALL business immigration categories.

If you’re interested in this program, you should prepare your paperwork and be prepared to submit it as soon as applications open. Otherwise, you risk disappointment.

NET WORTH

You must demonstrate that you have at least CAD 300,000 in net assets between you and your spouse. This is not a difficult task for a high-net-worth person like yourself.

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

While acquiring an established firm in Quebec is possible, the Quebec government is unwilling to let anybody with a few million dollars relocate to the province.

You must be able to show practical company management experience to apply. In addition, you must have spent at least two years in the preceding five years operating a productive firm in which you owned at least 25% of the capital equity with a combined worth of at least CAD 100,000.

According to the Quebec government, operating a firm entails full-time responsibility for “responsibilities and tasks connected to the planning, administration, and control of material, financial, and human resources.”

The longer you have been in this managerial role, the more points your application will get.

BUSINESS PROJECT

Whether you start a new firm or acquire an existing one, you and your spouse must own at least a 25% share of capital stock.

Additionally, you must demonstrate your intent to engage in the firm’s day-to-day operations.

OTHER FACTORS

While there aren’t super strict regulations for who can apply, the application is highly rigorous. That implies characteristics such as age, wealth, education, understanding of Quebec, and personal attributes will be thoroughly analysed.

The application does require you to declare language skills in French and English. You must take an exam in one of the official languages in order to get points for your language abilities.

If you are proficient in English and French, you should take exams for both languages to get more points for your application.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The first step in the application process is downloading, filling out, and printing the application form, including the entrepreneur appendix, which asks you to declare your entrepreneurial experience and assets.

You must then attach supporting documents, including language exam results, a narrative document, and the financial self-sufficiency contract. This contract assures the government that you will be able to take care of your housing and living expenses and those of your spouse and any dependent children.

To submit your application, you will send in all of the necessary paperwork and papers.

Forms for credit card payment are also required with your application, along with a check or money order for the price.

. The fee for this application is CAD 1,062, plus CAD 168 for your spouse and each dependent child.

Your application will be reviewed by an immigration officer if it is successful in the first stage.

Afterward, you will be advised of any more actions you must do to finish the application process or your application will be refused. Alternatively, your application may be placed on hold indefinitely if you need to gather further documentation.

If your application is accepted, you will receive the Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ). The CSQ allows you to apply for permanent residency from the Canadian federal government.

Until the Canadian government grants you permanent residency, you cannot legally reside in Canada.

PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN CANADA FOR HIGH-VALUE EMPLOYEES

You may also be able to qualify for permanent residence if you have a highly valued skill to offer the Canadian economy.

If you have a highly sought-after expertise, you may potentially be eligible for permanent residency in Canada.

Even if you don’t have $2 million to invest or an excellent start-up idea to innovate life in Canada, there could still be a pathway open to permanent residency and later citizenship.

If you have a skill that the government has determined could benefit the economy.

FEDERAL SKILLED WORKERS (FSW)

If you are applying as a skilled worker, you will need to apply through Express Entry and attain 67 out of 100 points. You will receive points primarily based on language, age, education, and experience.

LANGUAGE

If you can speak one of the official languages, you can get 24 points, or 28 points if you can demonstrate fluency.

While you only need to prove that you speak one fluently to be considered for permanent residency, it will bolster your application if you successfully test for English and French.

EDUCATION

If you have a college degree, you’ll also get points. For example, you can only achieve a maximum of 25 points if you hold a Ph.D.

Five is the lowest possible score; it is awarded for finishing high school. The educational qualifications for various streams and immigration programmes may differ somewhat from one another.

EMPLOYMENT & EXPERIENCE

Prior job experience in recognised professions may earn skilled individuals up to 15 points. To achieve a maximum of 15 points, you must have six or more years of work experience.

You can receive 13 points for four to five years of work experience in an approved occupation. Two points are deducted from your overall score for less than four you have worked each year. You can receive a minimum of 9 points for one year of practical experience.

The government can restrict immigration from certain occupations based on the needs of the Canadian economy. This prevents labor surpluses that might edge native Canadian citizens out of the job market.

You may be awarded an additional 10 points if you already have an offer for a permanent job in Canada when you apply.

To receive the points, the job offer must be confirmed by the Human Resources and Skills Development of Canada and received before applying to Canada.

AGE

You can also receive points for your age. Those aged between 18 and 35 will receive 12 points. Others will lose 1 point for each year they are older than 35. Those aged 47 or below 18 will receive no points.

ADDITIONAL POINTS

Applicants can be awarded up to 15 points for their spouse’s education, language, and work experience. If you or your spouse have a legal Canadian relative, you may get an additional 5 points. A relative must be a parent, child, uncle or aunt, niece or nephew, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling to be eligible.

After you apply through Express Entry or on paper, you will have to apply for Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). For example, if you had to apply through Express Entry, you would have to wait for IRCC to extend an invitation for you to apply.

APPLICATION PROCESS

You will first have to fill out an Express Entry profile to apply. After creating an Express Entry profile, you may be asked to apply for permanent residence if you match the requirements.

It is possible to submit an application online, pay fees electronically, and submit all supporting papers electronically using credit or debit card.

If everything goes according to plan, an immigration official will get in touch with you to discuss the next stages in your application process.

PROVINCIAL NOMINATION

The Provincial Nominee Program is another way for qualified employees and business owners to get permanent status (PNP).

Each province has its immigration streams that target either students, skilled workers, or business people, depending on the needs of their economy.

You will have to check the website of each province to get more specific information on what they are looking for. Depending on the nomination you receive, you may still need to apply through Express Entry, which means you must still attain the necessary points described above.

The first step is to apply directly to the province you hope to move to. Only one province may be selected per application.

Based on your skills and chosen stream, the province may extend a nomination and request that you apply via Express Entry or on paper.

Paper applications, on the other hand, take a lot longer to complete than Express Entry applications. Average wait times per stream through Express Entry are not yet available because it is a new system, but most applications will be processed within six months.

QUEBEC SKILLED WORKERS PROGRAM (QSWP)

Quebec also has a program to attract highly skilled and educated workers to Montreal and other cities.

Like the other Quebecois programs, the application process is competitive. However, it will result in being granted the CSQ, which you will then have to use to apply for permanent residency through the federal government.

Applications at the federal level, not including the initial application, take an average of 16 months to process.

POINTS SYSTEM

Like the federal government, Quebec uses a point system to determine eligibility. However, their approach is distinct from the federal government’s.

The point system is intended to identify candidates who would be economically successful in Quebec while contributing significantly to the local economy.

Acceptance requires a minimum of 50 points if applying alone or 59 points if applying with a spouse or common-law partner.

You may earn points for various factors, including education, work experience, job offers, age, language proficiency, familial ties to Quebec, and financial self-sufficiency.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications like those for the FSW program may be filed online. You will do so using the Mon projet Québec portal. The online application will assist immigration authorities in determining your eligibility and the potential usefulness of your abilities to their economy.

If you are deemed qualified, you will get an email with a customized list of papers to send by mail.

Additionally, you must indicate if an attorney represents you and submit that form. If approved, you will get a CSQ, which you may use to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
